This year’s Summer Camp will be held online as a series of seminars with instructors from our organization, SKDI, and JKA headquarters. Please register by June 30th, 2021.
Due to the time difference with Tokyo, class times will be in the early morning and evening.

On Sunday July 18, during the day, shodan/nidan/sandan grading, and Class D instructor/examiner/judge qualification examinations will be conducted, presided by SKDI instructors.

Later that evening, on Sunday July 18: yandan/godan grading, and instructor (Class C & B), examiner (Class C), and judge (Class C & B) qualification examinations will be conducted, presided by JKA headquarters instructors.

JKA would like to remind everyone that:
- For the Qualifications exams for JKA certification as an Instructor, Judge, and/or Examiner there are prerequisites for each level ABCD. Please refer to the JKA Headquarters Certification Guidelines
- There are separate payment pages for camp participation, qualifications tests, and dan exam. Make your payments separate via PayPal.
- If you are using a check for any payments, please email sensei@jkabrooklyn.com to inform him you will be paying by check.
- Schedule Note - Hangetsu was recently replaced with Kanku Sho
- In order to test for D class Examiner, you first test and pass D class Instructor and Judge.
- For those taking the Dan exam in small spaces, when full forward or backward steps are not possible, you must fully exchange your legs. Instead of shifting around, please use discrete forward or backwards movements using these modifications
- If no room to step in forward: move your front leg back to your back leg and then move that back leg forward.
- If no room to step back backward: move the back leg to your front leg, and then move that front leg backward.
- For those of you testing for yondan, godan, C class qualification, and B class qualification - Your applications MUST be in by June 30. No exceptions.
- When filling out your name on the application: use the format in which you wish to see on the certificate (FIRST NAME, LAST NAME; or LAST NAME, FIRST NAME.
- When filling out your name: there is a 17 character maximum. Abbreviate accordingly.
- Those registering for the Qualifications seminar or tests note that you are only paying for the seminar, seminar + 1 test, or seminar + 2 or 3 tests at the rates of $100, $150, or $200. You will only pay the final “registration” for JKA Headquarters fee if you pass your test. That payment page will be made live after camp and you will be emailed for follow-up if you pass your qualifications test.
- Attendance will be taken at each class during camp to ensure participants are only attending the classes they registered for.
- For those of you testing for dan grades and qualification: you must register for a minimum of three classes. No exceptions.
- At least two days before camp, all registered and paid participants will receive the zoom link information, including passcode if there is one. Please do not share the link or passcode upon receipt.
